Reflections

Reflections are a handy way to enhance an image. Below is a picture of a boring porch light, but instead of that I chose to capture the reflection of the trees & sky in its glass. noticing these little details can make an ordinary image more original & unique… even if it isn’t the most extraordinary picture when your done.

If you are shooting water, reflections can change the mood of the image. The below two shots was taken in the Dupont State Forrest in NC using a Circular Polarizer filter. The only difference between the two shots is the position of the filter. One has more reflections while the other is less reflected. Also notice how the rock & moss are more colorful & clear. The Circular Polarizer is a useful tool for manipulating the reflections to convey the type of mood you’re going for.
